For KRUX athlete Diego Wong, some climbs take more than a decade. Diego's been climbing since 2014 and got their start at Stoney Point in the Los Angeles area, a crag they still love “with my whole heart.”
A 12-Year Dream
As a kid, Diego watched a video of Jason Kehl climbing Evilution, the 50-plus-foot highball in Bishop’s Buttermilks.
“I knew I wanted to do it, but it seemed so far away.”
This past season, Diego sent it, taking the left exit that Kehl originally climbed.
“It brought me back to a very primal space of just feeling connected to the rock and my own roots with climbing.”
Off the Wall
On rest days, Diego's at the park, at the beach, or at the sewing machine they found on the street and fixed up themselves.
“Maybe to the detriment of my recovery, I’ve been spending a lot of time doing that on my rest days.”
